Greg Keaton, Head Coach  


Greg Keaton Assistant Coach at Leanoir-Rhyne University has been named as coach for the 2018 season.

Greg Keaton is entering his fist season as assistant baseball coach at West Virginia State University.

Keaton comes to WVSU after a four year stint at NCAA Division II Lenoir-Rhyne University (2014-2017).

Preceding Lenoir-Rhyne, Keaton coached at USC Sumter (2008-2013), the first six seasons of the program's inception. The Fire Ants compiled a 243-103 (.701) mark during those six seasons and won a pair of Region 10 Championships in 2009 (52-11) and 2011 (41-11) as Keaton worked primarily with the hitters and catchers.

Keaton's Previous collegiate stops included Prince George Community College (Md.), Montgomery College (Md.), Davis & Elkins College (WV) and WVU Tech, Keaton's high school stints include Logan and South Charleston, WV. At Logan , Keaton was part of four state championship teams as a player and a coach and was elected to the Logan High School Hall of Fame in 2009.

As a summer head coach, Keaton worked in the Mountain Athletic League (Bash 22), the Great Lakes League (Sandusky Baystars), the Valley Baseball League (Rockbridge Rapids) and currently the Head Coach of the Woodstock River Bandits.

Keaton, also served in the summer working as an assistant coaching the Southern Collegiate League (Fort Mill, SC.), the Northwoods League (Battle Creek Bombers) and numerous 18 and under teams in West Virginia and Ohio.

Greg was the hitting coach for the West Virginia Miners of The Prospect League in 2015 and 2016 helping lead the team to the league championship in the summer of 2016.

He has had the pleasure of working with over 90 players who have signed professional contracts.

Keaton is a graduate of both West Virginia University and Marshall University.

Cliff Jackson, Assistant Coach 

Cliff Jackson

Cliff is a native of St. Albans, West Virginia and graduated from West Virginia State University with a BS degree.

Cliff has been an assistant baseball coach at West Virginia State for 6 years and prior to that an assistant baseball coach at South Charleston High School for 4 years.

Cliff also worked 7 years in Minor League Baseball. Five (5) years with the Chicago Cubs and two (2) with the Cincinnatti Reds.

This will be Cliffs 9th summer working in the Valley League.
